I am not a professional writer. A mathematician by training and a software developer by trade, I discovered somewhat late in life that I have at least a limited gift for putting my thoughts into words. I find writing this column the best way I can contribute my years of experience on Planet Earth to the effort of trying to make it a better place.

I currently reside in Newtown Square, PA with my wife, my life’s partner, Jo-Anne. Prior to coming to Pennsylvania, we lived in Atlanta, GA, Bakersfield, CA and McLean, VA. We met in graduate school at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY, where I was raised. Jo-Anne is a Connecticut Yankee, raised in New Haven, CT, so our marriage has, literally, been the union of North and South

We have two children, Amanda and Jeff, both grown and, for the most part, out of our house but never out of our hearts.
